Spyros Batistatos

ICT Solutions and Services Director

Spyros Batistatos joined p-NET in early 2025. He brings extensive experience in business operations management, including the software development outsourcing partnership of Intracom Telecom with Ericsson. Spyros has made significant contributions to both EU and nationally funded research projects, beginning as a project coordinator and later assuming leadership roles within Intracom. His technical interests focus on ICT and Systems Engineering. He holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Computer Science from the University of Manchester, UK.

Prof. Spyros Denazis

Scientific Coordinator

Prof. Spyros Denazis has been a faculty member since 2004 in the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department, University of Patras, Greece. Between 1996 - 2004, he worked in the telecommunications industry, for Intracom S.A and Hitachi Europe in Cambridge, UK and Sophia Antipolis, France. He currently leads an active research group, with a wide range of research activities and European research projects in the areas of 5G/6G, Experimental Testbeds (https://wiki.patras5g.eu), NFV, SDN, Smart Cities (https://sense.city & https://safeamea.gr) and Cybersecurity. He is also the Scientific Coordinator of the newly established 5G Competence Centre p-NET (https://www.p-net.gr).

Charalabos Gizas

Telecoms and 5G Radio Engineer

Charalabos Gizas, MSc., is a Telecoms and 5G Radio Engineer at p-NET. Charalabos has a diverse background and has extensive practical experience acquired through roles in both research and product development environments. Charalabos has been involved in researching novel 5G technologies for various EU-funded projects and has held key positions at organizations such as NOKIA Bell Labs NJ, USA and St. Jude Medical Neuro division in TX, USA. Charalabos holds an MSc in Radio Frequency and Communications Engineering and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Braford University, UK.

Roula Ioannou

Communications Director

Roula Ioannou is Head of Education and Professional Training at p-NET. She has extensive administrative experience, where she previously worked at the Hellenic Management Association, as the Regional Director of the Peloponnese and Western Greece Branch. Prior to that, she worked as the Administrative Director at Intercollege Larnaca, Cyprus. She has been involved in developing educational programs of study, co-operating with businesses and organizations in offering training and educational programs to executives, implementing various EU projects and has been actively involved in accreditation processes. Roula holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the Business School of the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.

Vaia Kalokidou

6G Research and Innovation Engineer

Vaia Kalokidou, PhD, is a Principle 6G Research and Innovation Engineer at p-NET. Vaia holds a BEng/MEng in Electronic Engineering from the University of Reading, UK, and a PhD in Wireless Networking (Interference Management Techniques for 5G wireless networks) from the University of Bristol, UK. She worked as a Senior Research Associate for several years at the University of Bristol, UK, specialising in mmWave, Massive MIMO, PHY security, and physical system deployments as well as PHY/MAC simulator development. She has also worked as a Senior Telecommunication Systems and Innovation Engineer at Satellite Applications Catapult, UK, mainly focusing on bid proposals and delivery of technical projects on 6G research (NTN-TN unification, open networks, IoT, UAVs, etc.). Vaia has also been following 6G-related standardisation activities in 3GPP, O-RAN and ETSI.

Panos Kapos

Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

With 17 years of industry experience, a BEng in Computer Technology, and an MSc in Communication Network Planning and Management, Panos Kapos brings a wealth of expertise to the role of Cloud Infrastructure Engineer. Panos' career is defined by his commitment to staying on the cutting edge of technology. He excels in designing, building, and optimizing cloud-based solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability with a proven track record in collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation. His passion for technology and problem-solving drives his success and is well-prepared to tackle the dynamic challenges in cloud infrastructure.

Dionysia Kouveli

Administrative Assistant

Dionysia Kouveli is the Administrative Assistant at p-NET, having joined the organization in early 2025. She brings extensive administrative experience, having previously worked as Head of Registries at the Metropolitan College, Patras Campus. Before that, she worked as an Administrative Officer at the Hellenic Management Association and, prior to that, at the Goethe Zentrum Patras. Dionysia holds an MSc in Banking from the Hellenic Open University and a BSc in Accounting from the Higher Technological Educational Institute of Patras.

George Kotronis

Financial Director

George Kotronis is an economist who has participated in or led numerous consulting projects for both the public and private sectors. He specializes in strategic and operational planning, feasibility and socioeconomic studies, financial analysis and business modelling, as well as in the analysis and evaluation of investments and project management. He is an expert in the implementation of quantitative methods of Operational Research and in the development of customized software, mainly for financial planning and modelling applications. George holds a degree in Economics from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens and an MBA from the Athens University of Economics and Business.

Dr. Konstantinos Lampropoulos

Senior Security Engineer

Konstantinos works as a Senior Security Engineer at p-NET. He is also a Research Associate at the University of Patras leading a team focused on Identity Management, Deception tools, Network Security and Hardware Security. In the past he worked as a firmware Engineer in ATMEL Hellas, and as a Research Associate at FORTH (Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas). He has organized various scientific workshops and conferences focused on Security, and has participated as a member in the INS-ISG group of ETSI, the (cg-discovery) of the Study Group 17 (SG17-security) in ITU-T and the ER-ISAC. His research interests are identity management, privacy, network security and Critical Infrastructures Protection. He holds a PhD from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras.

Maria Marinidou

Technical Sales Director

Maria Marinidou is the Technical Sales Director. She has over 20 years of experience in telecom and technology solutions across Europe. She has held key leadership roles in both multinational corporations and regional operators, driving major transformation programs in core network and cloud infrastructure. Maria began her career in telecommunications research in the UK and went on to hold senior roles at Vodafone, Huawei, and Nova, where she led strategic initiatives in network modernization, agile transformation, and digital innovation. Maria holds a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Aristotle University, an MSc in Telecommunications from University College London, and an MBA from the Athens University of Economics and Business.

John Mikros

Software Engineer

John Mikros is a Software Engineer for 5G/6G and AI/ML services at p-NET. With several years of experience in startup environments as a software engineer and full-stack developer, he has contributed to the design and development of modern, efficient, and reliable products. His expertise includes analytical pipeline development, big data processing, machine learning, containerization technologies, and cloud infrastructure. John holds a BSc in Physics and an MSc in Informatics, bringing a strong analytical mindset and robust technical skills to his work.

Marios Nicolaou

Business Development Director

Marios Nicolaou, MSc, is the Business Development Director of p-NET. Marios is also a Strategic Advisor to the 5G Techritory which is one of the largest 5G Digitalization Conferences in the world. Marios started his career at Bell Labs in the USA where he worked for 18 years in various positions. His last 7 years at Bell Labs were spent in London, UK where he was the Senior Director for Wireless Consulting. Marios also served as the 5G expert at Digital Catapult in the UK and as a member of the Board of Directors at JCC Payment Systems in Cyprus. He invented various innovations which went to market with significant commercial success including the WSO (Wireless Strategy Optimizer). Marios holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of California Irvine, and an MSc in Engineering Management from the University of Southern California.

Andreas Polychronopoulos

Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Andreas Polychronopoulos is a Software Developer with 13 years of experience in the IT field, demonstrating versatility by transitioning from software development to operations and back. In his current role as a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at p-NET, he adeptly manages Openstack cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) techniques. His responsibilities include designing new Openstack Cloud Infrastructure requirements and an AI platform to support emerging technologies like 6G and SDN. Previously, at Citrix, he served as a Senior Software Engineer, contributing to projects such as Citrix ADCaaS and Citrix SD-WAN Edge Security. Noteworthy achievements include optimizing 4G traffic for Telco providers and receiving accolades for his support, problem-solving skills, and leadership. Andreas possesses a rich technical skill set encompassing Kubernetes, Docker, Microservices, Terraform, Python, AWS, Azure, and more. His achievements include successful delivery of development environments, recognition for team spirit elevation, and a Hackathon award for Cloud Cost optimization. With a commitment to simplicity, inclusivity, and effective communication, he stands out as a mentor and contributor to the IT community.

Nick Polyzogopoulos

Junior Front-End Web Developer

Nick Polyzogopoulos is a Junior Front-End Web Developer. His experience in crafting web content for businesses and his keen desire to evolve, combined with his role at p-NET, positions him in bridging the gap between technology and future business needs. He holds a BSc in Business Planning & Information Systems and with his continuous learning mindset, is ready to commit in making impactful contributions in the Software Development field.

Konstantinos Pournaras

Junior Networks Engineer

Konstantinos Pournaras is a Junior Networks Engineer at p-NET. He possesses extensive knowledge in computer engineering and science, with a particular emphasis on networks. Adept in various aspects of network engineering including infrastructure, automation, and security, Konstantinos is certified by well-known vendors. He brings versatility and adaptability to challenges, aiming to leverage and further develop his skills to contribute to seamless and secure network operations. Konstantinos holds an integrated MSc in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the University of Patras.

Didoe Prevedourou

Managing Director

Didoe Prevedourou (F), MSc., is the Managing Director of p-NET. She is also Vice President of Innovation and Research at the CTiF Global Capsule, a global, collaborative, non-profit organization for cross-/inter-disciplinary research, education, and innovation. Didoe has extensive work experience in both academic and corporate environments. Has worked as research scientist in numerous EU and nationally funded research projects, also in the roles of project coordinator and technical manager, as well as in industrial projects, covering diverse thematic areas in ICT and innovation management. Her research interests are in ICT and its applications in healthcare-wellness, the environment, education, and culture. She holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, USA.

Dimitris Proskefalas

Junior Software Engineer

Dimitris Proskefalas is a Junior Software Engineer at p-NET. He has experience in various fields of software development and computer science, including machine learning, deep learning and signal processing. His expertise also extends to some web development practices and techniques. Dimitris possesses high problem-solving and analytical ability along with hands-on expertise allowing him to resolve complex challenges effectively. He holds an MSc in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the University of Patras.

Dr. Athanassios Staveris-Polykalas

Senior Cybersecurity Specialist

Athanassios Staveris-Polykalas is a cybersecurity expert and digital transformation consultant with extensive experience in telecommunications, cybersecurity policy, and the application of artificial intelligence in public administration and private sector operations. As the former Secretary General of Telecommunications and Posts in Greece, he led key national projects that strengthened the country’s digital infrastructure. He was responsible for the implementation of the European emergency number 112, improving the efficiency and coordination of emergency services. He also oversaw the rollout of Ultra-Fast Broadband, expanding high-speed internet access across the country. In addition, Athanassios developed national cybersecurity policies aimed at protecting critical infrastructure and aligning Greece with EU cybersecurity directives.

Athanassios currently advises organizations on the integration of AI technologies and the development of cybersecurity frameworks. At the Hellenic Development Bank, he supports projects focused on improving internal processes and decision-making through AI-driven data analysis and automation. He also works with UNDP on digital transformation initiatives that promote secure and sustainable development. His work ensures that digital technologies are implemented effectively while maintaining regulatory compliance and security standards.

Dr. Christos Tranoris

Technical Director

Dr. Christos Tranoris is the Technical Manager of p-NET. He is also a Researcher at the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Patras and has significant experience in the development of programmable infrastructures, cloud and containerized computing, software engineering and operation support systems and services. He participates in various standardization and European organizations while he is also currently the technical leader of various EU funded projects in the area of 5G and 6G research.

Maria Votta

Head of Office, Co-funded Projects Management

With over 2 decades of consulting experience, Maria Votta has led, managed, or monitored projects and programs for enterprises and organizations in both the private and public sectors, including private, public, and co-financed initiatives in Greece and the EU. She has extensive experience in strategic and business planning, organizational restructuring, development of internal policies and processes, evaluations of investments and programs evaluations, feasibility studies and project management. Maria holds a Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Patras and an MSc in Technology Management from Stirling University, Scotland.
