The Infrastructure behind Innovation

p-NET has evolved its infrastructure into a fully operational and highly flexible Testing and Experimentation Facility (TEF) for advanced connectivity and digital services. The facility integrates RAN, Core and Edge platforms from multiple technology suppliers, creating an end-to-end environment that combines carrier-grade infrastructure, experimentation platforms and cloud-native technologies.

A major focus of our current activities is the evaluation of advanced 5G Standalone capabilities. Current activities include Network Slicing and Quality of Service (QoS), together with advanced RAN features such as Low Latency, Low Loss, Scalable Throughput (L4S), radio resource partitioning and scheduler optimization. These activities assess how network resources can be dynamically allocated and prioritized to support applications with different performance requirements.

At the same time, p-NET is exploring API-driven networks through the validation of network exposure capabilities. Current activities include the evaluation of Quality-on-Demand (QoD), device status and connectivity monitoring APIs, enabling applications to dynamically request network resources, monitor connectivity conditions and receive network events.

Beyond connectivity, p-NET continues to expand its capabilities to provide end-to-end visibility across devices, applications, networks and edge infrastructure. By correlating network performance with service behaviour and user experience KPIs, stakeholders gain valuable insight into how network performance impacts end-user services.

Looking ahead, p-NET is actively investigating terrestrial and non-terrestrial network integration, supporting future scenarios where satellite and terrestrial infrastructures operate together to provide seamless connectivity and service continuity.

On the AI front, p-NET is actively developing AI-driven approaches for network observability, automation, optimization and closed-loop decision-making, supporting the evolution towards more intelligent and adaptive communication systems.

Alongside experimentation activities, p-NET is developing technical white papers, training shots, validation reports and datasheets that capture lessons learned and help transfer knowledge to the wider ecosystem.

By bringing together connectivity, computing, applications and observability within a single environment, p-NET provides a neutral platform for experimentation, innovation and technology validation, helping bridge the gap between emerging technologies and real-world adoption.
