A large-scale demonstration for the FIDAL Project successfully took place at the Patras5G/p-NET testbed during April 2024, showcasing the capabilities of advanced 5G infrastructure in real-world scenarios. The two-day event featured the testing of numerous PPDR-related use cases over the Patras5G/p-NET testbed. It was attended by invited rescue teams, PPDR professionals, and firefighters, providing valuable insights into the practical applications of 5G in public safety and emergency response.
The demonstration featured three innovative use cases and an open-caller setup, supported by three outdoor 5G cells and involving 20 diverse user devices including mobile phones, drones, AR/VR headsets, and even a robotic dog!
This high-intensity test environment highlighted the performance and flexibility of the p-NET testbed in enabling demanding applications across multiple domains. It marked an important milestone for the FIDAL Project and reaffirmed p-NET’s role as a key enabler of 5G+ technologies and cross-sector innovation.
